Till date, people like finely ground and sieved flour because the Roti/Chapati made from it is soft and also looks white. What is bran?
The outer layer of wheat grain Its main part is bran which is commonly known as wheat peel. During the milling of wheat, this part and the inner starch are ground to form flour. Wheat flour appears brown because of bran. Wheat fiber contains insoluble fiber called cellulose. It contains calcium, selenium, potassium and phosphorus and vitamins A and B complex in high amounts.

Fibre is of Two Types, Insoluble and Soluble:
1.  Insoluble fibres do not absorb water and help in cleaning the intestines. Wheat bran and bran mixed wheat, corn bran, vegetables, fruits, almonds, walnuts contain such fibres in abundance.
2.  Soluble fibres absorb water and act like a sponge in the intestines. Lobia, citrus fruits, psyllium etc. contain soluble fibres. All types of fibers are necessary for the body. They all have their own importance. Wheat bran is the best source of fiber.

Make the Digestive System Strong:
Consuming fiber and especially wheat bran in adequate quantity helps ingetting rid of digestive problems and constipation. Wheat bran is the best fiber to Cure Constipation. It takes more effort to Chew Roti/Chapatis containing bran. This helps in our digestion. Consumption of bran stimulates the digestive system. We get rid of disorders like indigestion. Chapatis without bran are Constipating. Eating chapatis made from flour containing bran relieves constipation.

Prevention of Ulcers:
Bran has the ability to weaken the elements that cause Ulcers. Scientists have also confirmed the fact that people of North India who eat wheat chapatis have less stomach ulcers than people of South India. Consumption of chapatis made from flour containing bran does not cause ulcers. The protein present in bran has the ability to weaken the elements that cause ulcers.

Increases Vitality:
Chopped chapatis made from flour containing bran Rotis are not only delicious but also increase the vitality. Which is very beneficial for patients suffering from diabetes. Eating things made from refined flour, increases the possibility of getting afflicted with diabetes and heart diseases, whereas consuming rotis containing bran continuously for a few days destroys these diseases.

Excessive consumption of refined flour also harms the teeth. Eating rotis containing bran also provides benefits to the teeth and gums.

Recurrent cold, headache and lack of appetite etc. can be treated with bran. Problems like Facial Tremors, Dizziness, Shortness of Breath etc. are cured by eating Rotis/Chapatis containing Bran.
